Hari MYP

Welcome to my page

I am here to represent you as one of Hertfordshire's Members of Youth Parliament (MYP).

June

Hello everyone! Sorry about the gap between this and my last post. I, like many of you have had exams and they have delayed my writing. Recently, I worked on a project called the Create which works with special needs schools and brings young people together through different art mediums.

Myself and a few people from my school worked with BreakspeareSchool composing a piece of music to go with photographs the students had taken around the Harlequin shopping centre.

The climax of the project was performing the piece of music in front of people in the Harlequin. Overall, the project was a great experience that enabled me to work with other people around the county which I hope will help me with my work in the UK Youth Parliament.

19th May

After tonight's meeting and careful consideration, We have decided to concentrate our efforts into a Political Education campaign. Hopefully ,this will ensure all young people in Hertfordshire gain knowledge of our system of governance and exercise their democratic rights as citizens.

Below is my original statement:

Hello, my name is Hari and I am standing as a candidate for the UK Youth Parliament. My aim is to bring

forward issues that affect you on a day to day basis and improve our lives in the process.

These issues include: Stopping the negative portrayal of youth in the media and giving fairness in reporting. Addressing the problems of university fees - why should we not adopt a similar system to the Scandinavian countries where everyone has the right to a free university education?

Public transport costs for young people - why doesn’t the whole country follow London’s example and give everyone under the age of 18 free travel on buses?

Helping to sustain our environment by making it easier to recycle- helping future generations to make the world’s resources last longer.

I am here to represent your interests in the Youth Parliament to help make this country a better place for you and me. I therefore ask you to vote for me. Vote for Hari.
