This shocking CCTV footage of the accident is intercut with memories of several witnesses and Frankie herself who miraculously survived and acknowledges how lucky she is to be alive.
You have all heard the road safety message from being taught at school when you were young, but how many of us actually use it? Did you know - in 2009, 1,600 young people were killed or seriously injured as pedestrians.
Frankie says “If you see a crossing, then use it. They are there for a reason. If you are at a crossing, look both ways. Make sure you can see in all directions. It's also important to check it‘s safe before you move.”
With so many things that can distract you like mobile phones and listening to music on your MP3, it's easy to miss a fraction of a second where something could come round the corner. When you are next crossing the road, think of Frankie and remember the following:
Young people’s comments from SO Youth: "We all watched the 'OMG Watch it' video clip of a girl being hit by a lorry. It's so horrible but we couldn't stop watching it and we showed all our friends that came into the club that night. We can't believe the girl survived!! We all did road safety and stuff at school, but we never really thought about it, but after seeing that we are all more careful when crossing the road. It's really good that the girl is in it and talking about what happened to her, it really makes you think. She was so lucky!!"
