Meet your new Members of Youth Parliament!
The 2012 Youth Parliament election results were announced on Saturday 11th February at County Hall.
For the third year running, the number of votes cast has broken records, reflecting more and more that you want to get involved in decision making.
A total of 33 young people from all parts of Hertfordshire hit the campaign trail to be elected to the post of MYP - Member of the UK Youth Parliament. Hertfordshire’s young voters turned out in force, with a record 27,000 votes cast on channelmogo.
The election announcement was made at County Hall on Saturday 11th February, with Chairman of the Council, Councillor Jane Pitman and many parents in attendance. The event also celebrated the achievements of the outgoing MYPs.
In the run-up to the elections candidates presented personal statements setting out their manifestos in video and written form on channelmogo, and posters were circulated to schools. All young people aged 11 to 18 were eligible to vote.

Meet your new MYPS
The six new MYPs are:
- Ailish, 16, from Berkhamsted, a student at Ashlyns School in Berkhamsted
- Xavier, 16, from Tring, a student at Tring School
- April, 16, from Watford, a student at Loreto College in St Albans
- Alex, 16, from Letchworth, a student at John Henry Newman School in Stevenage
- Armaan, 16, from Watford , a student at Watford Grammar School for Boys
- Michael, 17, from Watford, a student at Watford Grammar School for Boys
The six deputy members are:
- Elliott, 16, from Watford, a student at Watford Grammar School for Boys
- Ijeoma, 15, from Bushey, a student at Watford Girls’ Grammar School
- Laura, 15, from St Albans, a student at Loreto College in St Albans
- Megan, 15, from Hemel Hempstead, a student at Cavendish School in Hemel Hempstead
- Tinashe, 17, from Hemel Hempstead, a student at Cavendish School in Hemel Hempstead
- Rory, 15, from Hemel Hempstead, a student at the Hemel Hempstead School
