Sign up to 'Summer of a Lifetime' in Herts 2012!

Are you aged 16 in Herts, and want a Summer of a Lifetime you'll never forget with the National Citizenship Service (NCS) volunteering project? Do you fancy making new friends, taking part in activities and trips away whilst adding to your CV?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, keep reading...

Summer of a Lifetime is a fun, challenging, personal and social development programme which will help you to become confident by taking part in socially responsible activities. By taking part in the programme, you can expect new challenges, develop the qualities valued by employers and make lifelong friends along the way. Summer of a Lifetime has been developed to improve young people's decision making, relationship building and self esteem.

Youth Connexions are looking for a diverse group of 16 year olds to take part (all young people must have reached their 16th birthday by the 31st August 2012, young people with a learning difficulty may be older). The Summer of a Life"The 'Summer of a Lifetime' project is a free, fun and challenging opportunity, giving you the chance to improve skills whilst also making new friends."time programme in Hertfordshire will recruit 10 teams of 15 young people who will be representative of their local community.

What does the project involve?

• Phase 1: Induction - Meeting your team and taking part in an activity.
• Phase 2: Five day activity residential - A week packed full of team building and problem solving and challenging outdoor activities at a residential centre away from home.
• Phase 3: Five day local residential - A week spent at a residential centre near to home planning a community project, developing skills.
• Phase 4: One week (non-residential) planning a social action project.
• Phase 5: Delivering a social action project for the benefit of the local community.

All stages of the project will be delivered by qualified and experienced members of Youth Connexions staff. You can see what last year's groups got up to on the facebook page below.
