Could you be a music Ambassador?
Are you aged 11-25, live in Hertfordshire and have a passion for music?
Songwriter 2012 is a project running until September 2012 to encourage young people to write songs about living in Hertfordshire, collaborate with other young songwriters online, and for your chance to win to have your songs produced by professional artists and perform at showcases across the county.
Songwriter 2012 are looking for 25 volunteer Ambassadors around the county to make this project happen between now and October 2012
Who are they looking for?
Young people aged 11-25 who live in Hertfordshire who are:
- Interested in song-writing, with a knowledge of music.
- Interested in helping other people to gain confidence and learn new things.
- Interested in a volunteering role that is accredited and guided.
What could you be doing?
As much as you want to! They have put a list below of some of the opportunities that you could be involved in as a Songwriter 2012 Ambassador. At the start, they will agree a role with you that matches your experience and interests. They will also suggest what could be next for you at the end of the programme.
Possible duties include:
- Promoting songwriter to friends in your school/youth club by distributing publicity, speaking about it, or playing songs from CD or in person.
- Performing your songs in your school and talking about how you write them.
- Supporting workshops by helping other young people try out instruments in groups, or helping them make backing tracks and write songs.
- Setting up your own area of the Songwriter 2012 chart website to keep an online diary and catalogue of your work.
- Providing resources (beats/lyrics etc) on the website to collaborate with others online.
- Helping to set up, promote and run gigs. Designing and distributing publicity, stage management, compering shows, learning light and sound engineering skills.
- Recording and reviewing gigs.
- Helping ‘map’ gigs and festivals in Hertfordshire.
- Helping them find out what support young people would like to make music.
- Any generally promoting Songwriter 2012.
Get an award and add to your CV
Depending on your age and experience and the time you have available, you could receive a Bronze or Silver Arts Awards as an accreditation. Arts Awards carry UCAS points and will support College applications. Songwriter 2012 will also provide you with a reference to support job/college applications.
