Trains

You can find train routes, times and fares by using the links below. Both the train travel sites given below can be used to book online. They will help you plan a journey, tell you what stations you need to change at and how long journeys will take.

  • If you use the train a lot, are aged between 16 and 25, and travel after 10 am you can get a 16-25 rail card. This gives you a third off the cost of your journey, but costs you £26, so you need to work out whether it’s worth it for you.
  • You can ask about the card at any station ticket office or check out the National Rail website.
  • If you need financial help with transport to school or college, and are aged 16-19, you may be eligible for discounted travel on buses and trains through Herts Direct.

Travelling safely

Try to avoid travelling late at night on your own. If it is necessary to travel after dark then make sure you are not on your own and somebody knows where you are at all times.
