Career advice from Youth Connexions

  • If you are trying to decide what to do after year 11, a Youth Connexions Personal Adviser can tell you about all the options, including Sixth Form, Apprenticeships and other work-based training.  Contact a Youth Connexions Personal Adviser in School or at a Youth Connexions One Stop Shop or Centre. See also the downloadable booklet at the bottom of this page.

Careerscape

Careerscape is packed with information on careers, employment, education and training options. You will need a username and password to access Careerscape. If you have already set up your own login details for Kudos or Adult Directions, you can use these, if not schools/colleges and Youth Connexions Hertfordshire One Stop Shops and Centres can create a username and password for you. If you have any difficulty obtaining a user name and password please email your name, date of birth, and name of School/College/One Stop Shop or Centre to infoyouthconnexions@hertscc.gov.uk  Click here for Careerscape.  

Hertschoices

If you are making choices about which courses and subjects will help in your future career, hertschoices allows you to see all the options available to you. The site helps you to find out about your next steps with clear and comprehensive information about the full range of 14-19 opportunities available across Hertfordshire. Visit hertschoices here. 

Prince's Trust

The Prince’s Trust is an organisation that gives practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. They help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, helping young people to move into work, education or training. Find out more here.

Kudos/ Adult Directions

  • Many schools and colleges have software packages called Kudos and Adult Directions. You can enter your likes and dislikes to produce a list of job suggestions and then find out more about the jobs you are interested in. Ask your Careers or Connexions Co-Ordinator about how you can access this software. Adult Directions is also available in your local Youth Connexions Centre or One Stop Shop. If you have already set up a user name and password for Careerscape, you can use these for Kudos or Adult Directions as well.
