What was the UNITY project?

  • Know more – explore diversity in Hertfordshire.
  • Do more – get active and join the county’s biggest art project.
  • Share more – celebrate what UNITY means to you.

The UNITY art project was about exploring and celebrating rich diversity in Hertfordshire. The idea was to encourage you to think about your own communities, family history and culture - what UNITY meant to you and capture the essence of this in a photograph.

This project aimed to involve as many young people (aged 13-19, extending to 25 for young people with a learning difficulty or disability) as possible. Everyone was invited to take part in what was to be Hertfordshire's biggest art project. This was an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of everyone who had taken part.

What next?

Each picture will be made into a large photo mosaic to be put on public display. This will demonstrate that Hertfordshire is a diverse community of many different groups - much like a mosaic created of many unique pieces.
