Have your Say
Fed up with adults speaking for you?
You can have your say and help change things. There are lots of ways to get your voice heard ….Why not join in one of the groups below and get involved?
Could you be a Youth Advocate?
Would you like to represent the views of young people in your area? All you need is to be 13 to 19 years old and want to make a difference to the lives of young people in your community. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t used to speaking out – we will give you some training and you will get the skills and confidence.
Each group of District Youth Advocates elect two reps from their district to sit on the Hertfordshire Children’s Trust County Youth Shadow Board. Their role is to bring critical issues and concerns to the attention of county decision makers. The Youth Shadow Board play a scrutiny role for the county, checking out the extent to which young people’s views have been used to shape services and the impact of this.
If you are interested or would like to find out more before you decide, call Jonathan Jack on 01992 901533 or 07825 522567.

What is a hustings event?
The United Kingdom Youth Parliament election hustings is an event organised by Youth Connexions, Hertfordshire.
The event will provide a platform for young people standing for election to become a member of the Youth Parliament an opportunity to tell other young people why they should be elected as the MYP for Hertfordshire.
Support will be provided on the day for young people to prepare their candidate statements. The candidate statements may focus on a particular issue, such as health or transport, or may be more general covering a range of issues.
Once completed all of the candidate statements will be placed upon Channel Mogo for other young people in Hertfordshire to access.

The BIG SPEND
Young people in Hertfordshire have a say in choosing how funds are spent on things to do and places to go. That means you could bid for money from The BIG SPEND funds to spend on something for your area.
Getting involved in the panel that decides how funds are spent is a great way to meet - and help - other young people, and you will get full training with accreditation.
