Herts 1125
Who are we?
We are young people that represent the views and opinions of those aged 11 - 25 who live, work or are educated in the county.
Herts1125 is about US as young people; what WE experience, what WE feel would work better, how WE can improve things for the future.
It's not about what adults think; it's about what WE think.
Our background
In 2011 Hertfordshire's Members of Youth Parliament decided that young people in the county needed a bigger voice and that non-elected young people needed a way to be heard. The result of this was the creation of Herts1125, a group that could be joined by any young people between the ages of 11 and 25 that live, work or are educated in the county.
Individuals, alongside representatives from schools and youth projects, came together at County Hall to begin to plan how Herts1125 would work. Young people had the opportunity to vote for the issues the Herts1125 group would work on as part of the 2012 Hertfordshire UK Youth Parliament elections.

The top five issues then went on to form the basis of the first ever Hertfordshire Young People's Manifesto 2012/13. Herts1125 members consulted with hundreds of young people across the county which formed the evidence for their Manifesto.
In October of 2012 the Hertfordshire Young People's Manifesto was presented to Members of Hertfordshire County Council and it was very well received. The group has gone on to forge links with various County Councillors, District Councillors, the Police & Crime Commissioner and other important decision makers.
Herts1125 is now looking forward to receiving feedback on their Manifesto from Hertfordshire County Council in April this year.
