My V Talent experience so far

You may be wondering who is this random girl writing reviews for channelmogo and what does she get up to in her everyday life? Well…
I am currently involved with V Talent which is a 44 week course in Youth Work. Trying to grab all the experience I can, I work in my local Youth Centre – Bancroft in Hitchin during the week which is a part of my training.
On Tuesdays I work with 13-18 year olds and Thursday nights is for any young people aged 13-19 to come down with their friends or play a game of pool, whatever they fancy. On a Wednesday the young people from Snappy G’s, which is a club run for young people with learning difficulties, pop down and always put a smile on my face.
Since I have been volunteering, I have made brilliant and positive relationships with everyone, and now have a piece of artwork hanging in my kitchen made by one of the young people.
On different nights there are various projects for them. Recently, I got involved with a fashion show, health and safety group, cooking and hopefully there will be a lot more in the future. I have been set a task for one of the evenings where there will be an ‘Italian Night’ where we will be cooking delicious homemade dishes and flags made by the young people representing Italy.
Before I started my placement, I got to meet all the other V Talent volunteers - we went on a residential and completed challenges like building a tower out of marshmallows and pasta (which I failed miserably at) and had things like team discussions. I am nearly half way through my course and have enjoyed it to the fullest. If you're interested in V Talent visit the link below for further info.
