Young people make giant pom pom!
A special needs group from Bowes Lyon in Stevenage have made a huge pom pom
The group called Megamix meet every Tuesday and started knitting back before Christmas and little by little the monster was formed. The pom pom project started with the Megamix group but as young people came through the Bowes Lyon Centre, other young people outside the group also contributed to the making of it, ranging from skate boarders to dance students. The pom pom measures about 2.4 feet in diameter.
Youth Worker Lisa Foster-Ridley said: " I understand the pom pom wasn't far of the world record, if we had known that before starting, we would have tried to beat that!" Young people with their giant pom pom from the Megamix Youth Project.
The next project is to knit a scarf that is the length of Bowes Lyon and perhaps even to go around the centre. Lisa is looking for enthusiastic young people to help with the scarf.
