Elm Court gig review

By Jamie

Tonight was a poor turn out, but not from the crowd, the hall was jam packed with people, but from the bands! Headliners Burn So Bright didn’t turn up for tonight’s gig. This left Change of Plan and She Falls Apart to entertain the young people who paid to get in.

The first band of the night was She Falls Apart, this post-hardcore quintet started off slowly, they just seemed to be there but put no fun and energy into their performance. However, they then started to put a bit more energy into it towards the end. They got through their set list without out any glitches which is good and their lead singer Osh, put in a good performance which helped with their last song - a power anthem which was thoroughly good. This set up Change of Plan for their great set.

Change of Plan kicked off their set with a cover of A Day to Remember’s “The Downfall of Us All”, and in the words of their lead singer “that was a decent start”. They put everyone in the mood to get moving around with that song and there was an expectance that their set would continue with that. They didn’t disappoint! The band flowed through a couple of songs which got the crowd up for anything and the fact that they were talking with the crowd, in this rather intimate gig, made the crowd only more compliant to move and jump around.

As Burn So Bright decided not to show, Change of Plan had to make themselves the headline act, which they did quite superbly! And this allowed them to perform a few more songs which the crowd loved. Both bands did well but more of the credit should go to Change of Plan as they were the more fun and energetic band.
