Calling all young people in Hitchin

Are you a budding DJ, sound technician, live musician or fancy taking a managerial or co-ordinating role behind the scenes of a radio station?

YOR Radio is looking for young people from Hitchin, and the surrounding area, to get involved in a variety of ways - they want you to get in contact with YOR Radio and help make their radio station a success!

Thanks to funding from the Department of Education, Youth Connexions and local organisations, community radio station YOR Radio will be back up and running and you can be involved!

Diana Hedley, Environmental Youth Worker at Groundwork said “YOR Radio is a fantastic project as it gives local young people the opportunity to have a voice and be part of a service to their community.  I’d like to thank all our sponsors and partners for making this programme possible.”

The internet-based station, which ran as a summer youth project in 2009 and 2010, will launch on-line on with funding in place for a two year programme. The station will broadcast from a purpose-built studio at Bancroft Youth Centre in Hitchin, using equipment funded by donations from Hitchin Area Committee and Hitchin Tilehouse Rotary Group. The two-year radio station programme is a partnership between Youth Connexions and local environmental charity Groundwork Hertfordshire - who organised and managed the radio station in previous years.
